Elizabeth Davis is a licensed massage therapist and the creator of TrapPress. When she saw the benefit that trigger point therapy had on her clients, she knew that she needed to help make this therapy more accessible to bodywork practitioners and their clients. Elizabeth is passionate about massage, trigger point therapy, and improving the experience of holistic approaches to pain relief. In addition to working as a massage therapist, Elizabeth, or “Liz” as her family and friends call her, enjoys camping and hiking, cooking with her husband, and being a mom to her adorable baby boy.
Contact USAs a massage therapist, I found myself practicing trigger point therapy every day at work. Almost all of my returning clientele came back just for this, especially for their upper trapezius muscles. I had the tools that I needed for every trigger point, anywhere, except for the upper traps. I found that the most effective way to deactivate trigger points in this area was to pinch the nodule, squeezing until the point was released. The tools that I had were for pressing into muscle tissue with the thumb, or with a ball, which works for many trigger points, but as I mentioned, I needed a tool that could squeeze like my fingers could squeeze muscle. My hands and fingers became weaker and more painful with every day, even while maintaining good posture, icing, and wearing braces at night. The pain eventually started affecting my elbows, and shoulders. I needed my own trigger point therapy sessions! I knew that this work was unsustainable without a proper tool, and that I would be forced to stop providing it eventually, or stop massaging. This was unacceptable to me because my clients needed this treatment so much! As I set out to find a “pinching” tool, I was distraught. I couldn’t find anything like what I was imagining. My ultimatum was to make it myself, or give up the defining modality in my career. Over the course of a year and a half, many prototypes, and hundreds of hours of testing, I have created the product that I so need, and that I know so many other practitioners need too. I hope that this tool will assist you in bringing relief to your clients and help to extend your career like it has mine.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Davis
